Pictures from the opening of Leslie Lookout Beach

This past Saturday, our SwimOP group had the unique opportunity to attend the official opening of Toronto's newest beach, Leslie Lookout Beach, located in the industrial Port Lands. Although swimming is not permitted at this artificial beach, that didn’t stop us from enjoying the day to its fullest!

As SwimOP members, we couldn't resist the urge to take a dip before the police reminded us of the no-swimming rule. Our very own Steve brought along his innovative paddleboard fitted with a treadmill—dubbed the "Jesus"—which allowed him to quite literally walk on water! It was an unforgettable sight, and many of us took a turn trying it out.

Check Out the Moments!

Be sure to check out the pictures and video below to relive our fun moments at the beach, from Steve’s epic walk on water to the stunning views from the beach.

It features some Muskoka chairs, benches and sand.

Mayor Olivia Chow with the star of Your Tomorrow film, Nuno!

Olivia was keen for a swim but had another event to attend.

I also got to try Jesus.

Industrial looking beach is a reminder of the past use of the land.

Excellent ladder for entering the lake for swim.

Some of us couldn't resist diving in.

The police were also there to remind us that this is a "No Swimming Beach"

Clearly sign posted that swimming and diving is not allowed.

Ducks have better sense than to obey silly laws that don't allow swimming. Rules seem to not apply to ducks either.

We decided to head to Leslie Spit or Tommy Thompson Park.

Many beautiful beaches there.

Some placemaking art on display.

Rock arrangements.
